What do you mean "dying". When did you add the plants? It could be that they are adjusting to the new tank and are shedding leaves to produce new ones.

tank has been set up about 3 months,so if its plants just growing new leaves and shedding old ones how often does this happen

When did you add the plants though? Did you add them right when you initially set up the tank or sometime after?

about 3 weeks after tank was set up its thriving now but keep getting all thses old crumpled up bits of leaves lying on gravel when i get up most mornings

There are a lot of species of plants. Some are easy to grow, some are more difficult. Do you know what plants you have? A photo of your tank would help in this discussion

Do you have aquascaping tools like long tweezers and long scissors that you ONLY use in the tank? If not I would suggest you look on Amazon for some. They can get pricey bags but I got a kit for $13 which is not bad at all... When you have plants tweezers and scissors help a ton

Most aquarium plants are grown out of water and will shed their terrestrial leaves when put underwater.

Some plants sold for aquariums are not true aquatic plants and will die when kept underwater.

Pictures of the plants will help us identify the species you have and then we will have more idea of what is going on.

Lighting is another factor and if the plants don't get sufficient light, they will shed leaves and die.

Lack of nutrients can adversely affect plants.
