Im thinking of bringing my gravel level down, currently its about 1 1/2 inches deep. I know you can pick up suction cups and aquarium silicone to tie artificial plants and ornaments down. is there a feesable way to tie down the live plants?

Currently I have a 20 gallon tall tank with two penguin biowheel power filters and an air stone.

Thanks

Having 1.5 inches of gravel is fine. It should slope from higher in back to lower so if the middle is around 1.5" ur good to go. if u have bunch plants use these http://www.ekkwill.com/plantanchors.html wicked cheap.
I take about 4-8 individual plants depending on the size of leaves and stems. Then I place them in the general area will I would like to plant them. After a coulple of weeks to a month depends on how fast they root, (If they are growing like mad.) I romove them and plant individually. Only works for stem plants though. I did try it with a crypt. And the only thing is it didn't produce runners. wouldn't reccomend this. but could still try it.
Hope this helps.

Ps. For ids use these

I don't see how it could be healthy for the roots or the plant to be "tied down", even with a gravel level that should be at least 3" level. Personally I think it defeats the purpose of keeping live plants in the first place.

well my concern is if i have to much gravel, it could have a tendancy to collect substrate, granted i cleen the gravel about once per week, I had some plants, not sure of what type but they were short with wide yellow and green leaves, which didnt do to well, so i removed them and the gauromis arent really happy with the fake plants. so i wanted to plant some new plants that will keep them happy. (tommarow i will go ahead and shift the depth higher to lower from back to front (what is the purpose of this?).

thanks
