I got some live bloodworms today (gross) and i was wondering why you're supposed to keep them in the fridge? There's just no way that mum will let me put a dish of worms in the fridge so at the moment i have them in a small tank in my room, is it ok to leave them there? They weren't too expensive so if i have to get rid of them that's fine. :p

It slows their metabolism so they don't die as quickly. :)

I was wondering, being inverts and all, if you froze and then thawed them, could some still be alive? i've heard that can happen with some insects, but I can't recall whether they used a special process.

Chrissie, what i think feeshy meant was if you had live ones then you froze them? I've had this happen before with maggots for fishing. I froze them for a good 72 hours and when i was at the bank they wriggled again :/

some insects can do this it depends on blood chemistry and whatnot,

just make sure the blood worm don`t grow up in your room as you`l have a room ful of mosquitos

Ewwwwwwwww  Nightmare! I didn't realise they grew up to become mosquitos, you learn something new everyday.

Blackworms I read somewhere are ok to keep in a little pail of water outside in a shady area. Also a word of advice is if any of the blackworms are limp and dead, It may not be a good idea to feed them to your betta because of anything that couldve gotten into them to kill them may get into your betta
