None of my LFS sell live food.

Does anyone know anywhere in UK where I can buy online or that is near swindon wilts live food?

Frozen is ok but I'm sure my fish would benfit from the 'real' thing.

Can't give you any recommendations as I am not in your area, but you could try the Practical Fishkeeping shop locator. There is also a shop in Salisbury in the PFK Top 40 shops - only just over 40 miles away :D

Oh oh Ok Go to the Goldfishbowl in Oxford (Im going tomorow) they sell everything. What live foods are you after? seriously take a trip to this shop you'll love it :D

if its live as in fish then it is illegal so not many lfs will advertise selling feeders.
some do sell them though you have to get to know them.

Yeah? Cool, I'll take my girl friend on a shopping day....and then come across it ;) Where abouts in oxford is it.

I'm after blood worms, Daphnia that sort of thing.

I poped by on sunday but was late due to traffic and they were closed :-(

I will try and get there in the week some time as it looked good in there. One question actually about live food is how long does it live?

I don't want to have to take a trip to oxford every week. Is it possible to keep Daphnia and blood worms alive in a small tank for a few weeks?

Any tips on this?

Unfortunatley I don't actually use live food so I can't help. I'm sure someone else will though ;). That sucks about it being closed, and the fact that you came all the way from Swindon :( You got an idea of the size form the outside though :D

thats odd, no live food, ont even brine shrimp?

hi ther,
maidenhead aquatics sell live daphinia, bloodworm & other small squiggly things in bags. they have a lot of branches in the uk .do you have one nearby??? we go to syon park but thats west london. ive had other fish folk warn me about live food though as there may be a possibility of introducing disease to your tank - just something to consider. :)

I wanna try the live food simply because I liked to get as 'natural' as you can in a fish tank. I figure they eat then in the wild so the risk can't be to huge and I'd hoped by buying at a good fish shop that would reduce the risk a bit.

Perhaps I could treat the live food before giving it to them. A salt feeder tank may help, I was planning on creating a snail tank for my loaches, I could keep that salted and keep their live feed in there as well,

At the end of the day I still flake my tanks as well because some of my tetras won't touch the frozen stuff and it gives them a range.

i too would be interested in where to get live food,i live not far from swindon if anyone else can come up with any where,i will visit oxford when i have 5 mins, the shops in my area have ceased selling daphnia because most die within 24hrs of it coming into the shops and half are dead before they reach the shops. i havent been able to get it for 5 months now.

Why Not Try your Local Allotment.

The Gardners always have loads of barrels that are full of Daphnia and Bloodworms. :D

I see no reason that they would not give you any.

When it warms up a little I always go down and net loads of free live food.
And Chatting with the Gardeners you sometimes get free Vegetables aswell.

Just an Idea.
