Hi all

I think my Antenneta Lion is getting tired of river shrimp.

I tried getting him onto frozen food but he hates it. Ive tried wiggling stuff etc but nothing so I am going to stick to live food.

What else could anyone suggest as a good live food source?

How could I add vitamins and stuff into his diet also with live food?

Cheers

Gut loading shrimp by feeding them flakes and so on can help with vitamins. The same would go fo rohigh quality SALTWATER feeder fish. Feeding FW fish can lead to fatty deposits around the liver.

How long are you starving the lion before offering food? One method I read for weaning is this:

Feed them a shrimp, then wait at least 5 days, then try it on frozen (such as whitebait, or a prawn on a stick). If it doesn't feed, don't feed it. Wait a couple more days and try again. Only feed on the tenth day.

You do really want to get them off of live food as it will mean far less risk of something nasty entering the aquarium. By all means feed it for a treat, but you can control the diet better IMO with a mix of live and dead food.
