Well, I thought I'd share this story. I grow a lot of regular plants, land plants I mean, and well, because of that, I have a few small flies buzzing around, occasionally. Well, today, one was buzzing around my computer desk, and I managed to stun it. It was squirming a little and Siegmund, my VT betta was looking at me very sadly, like this: :-( . I said, "what the hey?" and popped the fly into his bowl. He gulped it up really fast and was all :D afterwards. I only use natural fertilizers, fish tank water, so I figured the fly didn't have anything toxic, and it sure was fun watching Siegmund gulp away. He actually pooped really well this evening, so I'm thinking the fly's exoskeleton was a source of fiber? I probably will look more closely for any other insects that may be roaming near my plants, and see if any will make a yummy treat for my fish! If anyone is offended my display of cruelty towards another living thing, I apologize. At least the fly did not die in vain. :byebye:

My bettas LOOOOOVE fruit flies. Once in a while a ton of them will pop up either in the kitchen or the bathroom, and my mom sets these traps made of yeast, water and sugar. They drown in it  So I rescue them from their horrible death and feed them to my bettas :D

I think that's adorable! It's certainly not like feeding them pizza crumbs like I've read on here before.

Plus they say that some bettas after being outside for a few weeks, in dog bowls, bird baths or what not actually look much healthier after eating the live food.

My oscars love it when I feed them camel crickets from my basement.
They literally jump for joy when they see a bug in my hand.

I feed my goldies those big houseflies buzzing around the windows in the summers all the time. They love them. I'm yet to find a fly small enough to feed my betta boys, though.
