Banana worms are smallest, then Walter worms, while microworms are largest. All three are best suited to fish which are under 5 cm long. This guide about how to cultivate microworms also works for the other cultures.

can you keep different cultures together, as i have a blackworm culture goin and it'd be easier cleaning them once instead of as many times as you have different cultures?

Also, do they smell? I'm not expecting it to smell of roses, but I'd like to know whether I could keep them in my bedroom with my tank or whether I'd be best off keeping them in a lesser used room.

The three cultures can be kept in one tub, but not mixed with blackworms because the culture methods are different. Microworm/Walter worm/banana worm cultures need to be restarted once every 4-5 weeks (regardless of whether they are kept separately or mixed), but don't require cleaning out in between.

Also, do they smell? I'm not expecting it to smell of roses, but I'd like to know whether I could keep them in my bedroom with my tank or whether I'd be best off keeping them in a lesser used room.

I have kept them in my bedroom before and I am more sensitive to smells like that than most people. Apparently the amount of yeast one uses affects the smell, so you could use only a pinch of yeast or none at all (the culture will just take a day or two longer to become established). Normally, new cultures do not smell, but old ones will. If the smell proves to be not related to yeast, then you can restart the culture a week earlier, before it starts going off. Even if the culture is starting to go off, it usually only smells bad when the lid is actually off.

I normally keep my cultures in the cabinet under the tank, but these ones are living on some shelves in a spare bedroom right now and no one has complained about them

How long will you be selling these? I'd be interested in some banana worms when I start breeding DP's. I won't be breeding them for a while yet because I'm only getting the DP's next Thurs then they'll need to grow up so I can tell whether they're male or female.

Should be in the long term they need to be restarted every month or so, so there's no harm in sending some out occasionally!
