Hello,

I have been given a plant by a friend as a present for my Tank, this was 3 days ago yesterday I was watching the fish and there have appeared on the sides of the glass, these little white patches. On closer inspection, there are loads of little white specs swimming around. They look just like very young brine shrimp. Obviousley they are not brine shrimp as this is a tropical tank.

Any Ideas, are they harmful. If necessary how do I get rid of them.

Thanks

Leon

can you give us any more information!i know of sanils coming on plants!did yiou treat the plant first?

hmm they could be little snail babies but i dont think they would be swimming around

it might be planaria ... which would be from overfeeding the tank and has nothing to do with the plant. Do a search on planaria on this forum and see if that would be it :)

--Edit--
I know for a fact that SirMinion has made some posts about it with picturs in it

1mm in size sounds too small to be planaria... and besides, planaria don't look at all like bbs... they have an obvious worm-y shape. I'm gonna guess that what you have are infurosia -- harmless little microorganisms, many of which are microscopic, but you can see some of them with the naked eye :)

Oh, and infurosia love live plants, so that's probably why you have a lot of them all of a sudden. I'm sure that every single tank in the world has them, since they are present in small numbers in basically all water.
