I have a terrible problem with them in my 25 gallon tall. There was one in the beginning that came witha plant. Now there's about 50 and still increasing. I'm trying to get rid of them. But if you don't want a ton of them, it's best if you get rid of the ones you see now before there's 50 of them.
I am currently overrun with the small, tiny actually, cone shaped kind in my 29 gallon. I think they are trumpet snails and are good for the sand as they bore and keep the sand stirred up. But as already stated, they multiply like rabbits. I must have over a humdred now. I try to take them out but I can't keep up.
we used to have a few snails i quite liked them, but once we got the clown loach there were no more snails! and now i can't even have any apple snails or anything like that, coz the loaches have quite a taste for snails but if you do feel like you have a problem and want a solution then i'd get a few loaches, they are really pretty fish, i love them!
Loachs will eat snails but clown loachs get really big for most tanks. A better choice is a gourami like the blue gourami. They don't get huge (about 4 to 5 inchs) but will eat those snails before they take over a tank.
I have become absolutely overrun with tiny trumpet snails. At least I think that's what they are. They are the cone shaped kind. Someone said that a snail explosion was generally a sign of overfeeding which I'm sure is my problem but now the bigger problem is getting rid of them. There are so many and they are so small that picking them out by hand is impossible. I took my net yesterday and scooped up some sand and shook it out to see what I had. I bet in a double tablespoonful of sand I had at least 50 of these tiny snails. And this is a 29 gallon tank so I can only imagine how many are in there. I am fully stocked but am considering getting 3 smallish loaches to start eating them. I could probably move them over to my 75 gallon after they clean up the mess in the 29 gallon.
