So i looked over the history of this board and found a few posts about moving fry, but I am still confused.

I have about 7 dwarf platy fry and they are still pretty small. they are about 3-4 weeks old now. I have them in a separate tank apart from the other tank which already has 2 dwarf adult male platy's and two african dwarf frogs.

I have a sponge filter in the big tank because I wanted to move the little ones, but now I am afraid they will get eaten by the big ones. What is a good size to move the fry in?

I'm splitting the fry between the big tank and little tank. The big tank is 10 gal and the little is 5 gal.

I'm trying to avoid getting more fry by just keeping the males and seeing if I can give the females to the local fish store.

Thank you!

Well once the fry are larger then their parents mouths you could add them back in. That is about the best way to gurantee them living and not being eaten.

Parent fish tend to leave their fry alone after a week old, but it then depends on what other fish u have as they love to eat abay fish.

I try to rear most of my fry with the adualts. and never have a major problem.
