I'm trying to move one of my guppies from her tank into my community tank!
Problem is, I cannot catch her! I don't really want to move all the ornaments etc. and everytime she sees the net coming she hides or swims away really fast! - She's pregnant so I don't want too much stress on her.

Any tips or will I have to remove all the stuff?
The net is too big aswell which doesn't help!

either try nd get a smaller net, or coax her out, ive had many a hard time, i have a big cichlid tank and a few minutes ago i removed all my baby jade eye and sajica, x breed fry into a growth tank, all the fish darted into the rocks, i dread catching fish from that tank, but they can be coaxed out with food, or clever movements of the net like trapping them in a corner and nabbing them:p

hope that helps

try using a small bottle, just put loadz of small holes in it and put some gravel in there so it sinks and then wait till she goes in :D

you could put the net standing in the tank for a while so they get used to it.moving slower is more effective than fast jolts of speed

Yes,I use the two net method as well.Mind you my guppys are so stupid they usually swim straight into the net
If you have no success try again at feeding time when I find that they are a lot easier to catch

In my 10g the fish are hard as hell to catch so I just remove every plant and cave in the tank and corner them in a corner and catch them. But in my 55g all the fish (except the pleco) come to the top of the tank when I go to the tank because they keep thinking I'm going to feed them and then I look for the fish I want and put the net in the tank real quick and scoop the fish out right from behind, works every time.

buyin my cichlids today, you should of seen the guy cathin them.

jus hovered above the tank (its pretty big) and in less then a blink he had the fish in the net.

then to make it even more impressive he caught the 2 specific fish i wanted in one super quick swoop and there totally different fish so werent sticking together or anything.

i kno cichlids are bigger than guppys but it was still impressive.
