I have one of those huge plastic breeders (holds three mommas, but I took the dividers out. They seemed to be less stressed when able to swim more) that I put two momma guppies in at the same time since they are usually due at the same time. They have been in there about a week with no problems. Today, when I got in from class, one of them looks to have scales missing from her back!  At first, I thought it was a fungus, but there isn't anything growing persey, just looks like missing scales. I am wondering if she somehow rubbed them off trying to get out? :S Could stress cause this? Old age? Never seen this before in all of my years of keeping fish...........

I went ahead and let them out of the breeder, just in case. I figured I better let them out and resume normal living for a while, just in case. What do you all think? :dunno:

sorry to hear that... :( that happened to my female just a few days ago. i still dont know what caused it. all i know is i tried everything. and she still died on me.:rip:

hope yours gets better though

My wife bought a mollie from a LFS and she was pregnant, and the stress of rleasing her in the tank made her deliver, I thought all of the fry were dead and chalked it up to just the stress of moving and a few days ago I have 3 mollie fry about a month old...... nice little suprise , I am sorry to lost the mom but I have 3 babies i didnt see before. I think they will make it

A week to keep even one guppy in a breeder trap is a very long time, never mind two guppies  . The max time i keep my females in the trap in around 3-5 hrs, after that time I let her out(even if she's still big) b/c i find the longer she's in a confined space the more stressed she is and therefor won't deliver and you know what? the second i let her out she starts having them like crazy.
Breeder traps/nets are meant to seclude the pregnant female(due soon) from any pesky males that might stress her out and also to give her peace and quiet for a chance to deliver the babies and to protect them. But putting her in there that far ahead will cause the opposite effect of relaxtion. Maybe next time when two are giving birth(I've had to deal with it too), put the other female in, say a one gallon bowl or let the other female have hers in the community tank(while the others in the trap) and be ready with a turkey baster(or a net) to scoop out the babies.
Did you not see your fish pace back and forth in the breeder trap? :(
Well hopefully all goes well with the female and good luck :)
