i think lionfish are:cool: ! My question is: Is a dwarf lionfish a good beginners fish? And would a 30 gallion tank be suitable for a dwarf lionfish? I was considering just having a lionfish but what would be other good tank mates if any?

thanks so much

i think lionfish is too small for a 30 gallon tank and im not really sure wat tankmates can be with him

Porcupine Puffer and a bunch of volitans in a 55G? What are the dimensions of the tank? I got my 120G tank so i could get volitans but after some extra research found out that wuzn't a good idea as my tank is only 18 inches wide and volitans can get that wide from tip to tip. Also, that's a huge bioload, what are you using for filtration?

no, it doesnt matter the dimensions, a 55g is to small for a porcupine puffer alone.

30 gallons should be fine for a dwarf lion. rmember that the word dwarf can be misleading, they can grow as large as 7" so that is still quite a size tobe honest. As for its tankmates.. Well anything that wont fit in its mouth :-( Keep clear of triggers as they can harras lions.
