We are considering getting a Dwarf Lionfish in the near future and were wondering what fish can be kept safely with it?
We are palnning on setting up a 137G marine tank which will leave our 3ft (48G) tank free, so thought we could house a Lionfish in it.
I know it's a daft question, but could we keep seahorses with one? If not, what about a Marine Betta?
Any help will be much appreciated.

Well Iw as watching this earlier today and I noticed the lionfish in the tank:

the poster says that all the fish have been coexisting together without trouble for a long time. I'm not sure if they actually would be easy to keep together, but I hope it helps. Other lionfish videos can be found there too, although I'm sure not all of them are experienced enough to know what exactly is right. In this particular video the guy does seem to know what he's doing, though, beautiful fish.

i recon a betta maybe okay, anything that it cant fit in its big off mouth should in theory maybe not so in practise be okay

Thankyou both for the replies. :good:
I thought the Seahorse was a bit of a long shot but I really do like the Marine Betta. Loks like I've got plenty more research to do before I try it.

well not a fish but my lionfish lives with a snowflake eel

I just had a quick look and the recommended minimum tank size is 75G so I'll have to give it a miss. Thanks anyway.

Assuming the seahorse in question was BIG (8''+ height) I think it could be very easily kept with a dwarf lionfish. Keep in mind that lionfish are not aggressive, just predatory. Same deal with marine bettas.

Assuming the dwarf lion will Dendrochirus brachypterus I would assume that anything that has a fairly decent body depth and grows past 4" is fine. The marine betta would be fine with a dwarf lion. There are a number of smaller eels that should fit fine in a 48 gallon. Another potential option is other scorpionfishes.
