Limpets

hi all, a friend of mine has discovered alot of these in her tank, its a 90 litre planted with sand,4 apple snails, 10+cherry shrimp and a juvi bristlenose amonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate 20 ph7.6. is it best to get rid of them, if yes how? is there anything that eats them? or just try and vac them out. thanks

Manual removal will work well on snails and the like, should work with these. No idea if an Assasin snail might have a go at them, but might be worth a go

Chemical removal is a no-no as you have shrimp on there, and they will get nailed by any snail away type treatments.

They're not much bother, they don't move much and don't seem to do any plant damage. Manaully remove as many as possible, cut down feeding, they should go away eventually.

are these limpets as in what you would find at the seaside?

No they are freshwater limpet snails, if I remember rightly they are quite small and look sort of like half a clam shell.

Yep, it'll be a pulmonate of some kind. No natural fresh water limpets in this country (though there are species in North America).
