Limia Birth

My female Blue Limia gave birth this morning to one fry that I saw, but also these orange egg looking things came out of her- I'd say about 5 of them. I'm wondering what those egg things were. Does anyone know? Please respond if you do. Other info that I have is the father of the fry could be a black lyretail molly that is the only other livebearer in the tank with her. She could have got inseminated before I caught her which was about 2 months ago. They are both in a Saltwater tank.

Thoughs might be undeveloped or unfertilized eggs that just came out with the other fry.

Yup they are eggs.

Poeciliids are not livebearers like a human in the sense that they do not have a structure whereby the mother feeds the young, goodeids for instance do have a trophotaniea structure which the female nourishes the fry through. Oversimplified, with Poeciliids they differ from egglaying fish only in the sense that fertilisation of the egg happens inside the mother but the eggs are still eggs. The eggs hatch just before birth.

If young are born prematurely then you may see yellowy coloured eggs, which is just an abortive birth. It is strange that you have had one fry along with the eggs, but there you go.
