Do you know what would cause my large (about 10 year old) angel fish' stomach to bloat? One had already died (I had two). I don't usually have trouble with my fish, so I don't usually test the water PH. The fish isn't eating too much and sometimes it swims side ways. I don't have air conditioning, so the water has been a little warmer than usual, but they are used to that in the summer.

Tank size: 70 gallons
pH:
ammonia:
nitrite:
nitrate:
kH:
gH:
tank temp: 79

Fish Symptoms (include full description including lesion, color, location, fish behavior): no lesions, see above

Volume and Frequency of water changes: Usually 1/3 or 1/4 of water every 5 or 6 months

Chemical Additives or Media in your tank:

Tank inhabitants: 1 large angel, 1 large silver dollar, 3 tetras, 3 small silver neon like fish, 2 medium sized plecostamas

Recent additions to your tank (living or decoration): all old decor

Exposure to chemicals: use spring and distilled water to add to tank when needed. City water has too much calcium deposits in it to use

hi there, you really should start your own post not add to this one, i've alerted the mods to it though ansd they should hopefully move it in due course.

we really need your stats for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate at the very least, i suspect poor water is the issue, water changes should be done weekly not every 6 months! i imagine your nitrates are through the roof which is causing problems.

take a sample of your water to the lfs for testing if you've not got a test kit yourself
