okay..so i have a black molly with ick. the only other tank i have is a 1 gallon tank with a filter. i dont have enough $$ to go buy a bigger tank so I was thinking about putting him in this 1 gallon tank till the ick is gone. is this a good idea? i know its small. also, it doesnt have a heater. someone told me since its a 1 gallon you probably dont need a heater for it. should i get one or no??

thanks!

Ick/whitespot is a highly infectious parasite, whenever fish get it you should treat the tank as a whole as chances are the other fish in the tank have it to, so there is no point in separating the molly from the others- not all phases of the whitespot parasites life cycle are visable to the eye, so you need to treat all of the tank.
Putting the molly in a 1gal bowl though would probably spell its doom either way though especially without a heater, the temp fluctuations in the tank will be very quick and cause a lot of stress to any fish in it.
My advice to you is to pick up some whitespot medicine like "anti whitespot" by interpet, gradually raise the temp of the tank to 28 degree's and, and treat the whole tank with the med. There are pinned articles and many threads on the forum on treating whitespot/ich if you have any further questions as to understanding and treating whitespot/ich  .
