Hi,

Can anyone tell me what would be more beneficial for plants; having several lights of the same Kelvin rating or having several different Kelvin ratings?

I'm asking cos i was gonna buy four 6500k fluorescent lights for my tank, then i thought hmm... maybe plants prefer a bit of a mix! :dunno: What do you think?

definatly a mix i have

1X 3000K - Dennerle Special Plant
1X 4000K - JBL
1X 6000K - JBL
1X 7500K - Arcadia fresh water

you can then set the timers to come on gradually simulating sunrise/sunset and the mix gives a more natural feel to the tank.

that is on the rio 180 (40G) left on my sig

also make sure you have reflectors on all of them, they will concentrate the light downwards ie no use lighting up your hood!!
