how long shopuld u keep your lights on in an aquarium?? about 7 hours a day?

it depends on how heavily planted your tank is...

No more than 12 hours, most people go for around 10 ish, you can easily cope with less

its going to be medium lanted, a couple at back and some planted bogwood at the front, so say 6/7 hours?

I have a timer. 10 on and 10 off. Sometimes I'll mix it up a little. Consistency seems to be the best bet from what I've read and experienced.
