I'm new to the wonderful world of tropical fish, but I've kept shubumkins if half a whiskey barrel in my garden for the last two years

I have a few questions

I've just set up my tank hexaset 60 and going down the fish less cycling route

1. How long do you have to keep the light on? Bearing in mind that it's summer here.

2. What temperature should I have my tank at for fish less cycling

3. I've read some were that you should plant "red" plants, is this correct and why

Thanks in advance to everyone

Taff

So glad you're doing a fishless cycle. Are you following THIS?

1. If you mean after you get fish however long you like, though if you leave it on too long you are very likely to get algae. Most do 6-8 hours a day. You don't need to have it on while cycling.

2. Between 75-85F

3. No, there are no plants that you should plant unless they are ones you want. Most red plants need high light and co2 so I would not get these unless you are ready to provide that.

Thanks for the swift reply ninjouzata

Yes, I plan to follow that fish less cycle

I will pop out tomorrow to get a testing kit, ammonia and possibly some more plants

:)

You're welcome, have fun! Be sure to post pics :D

Welcome to TFF, Taff!
Good luck with the cycle - how far into it are you?

Only just started the cycle, so a long way to go :-(
