im going to be breaking down my 65G and selling it soon so i will need to take all the plants out of their and divide them up into my 3 other tanks one of which is a 10 gallon that just came with regular screw in lightbulbs which i assume are no good for plants and i need to upgrade them.

i was having a look on bigalsonline.ca and found this page of screw in type bulbs

http://www.bigalsonline.ca/BigAlsCA/ctl366...ewType=Category

are any of these what i would need to prepare my 10G tank to be planted up...

if so, which ones should i buy?

Thanks

I went and bought the coralife 50/50's. I got the 20 watt ones off ebay for around $12 and free shipping.
So far, I have a $h!tload of black brush algae, But I think that is due to other issues. Possibly varied co2 and not enough NPK.
but i will be following this thread for info.

ahh thats interesting....the last thing i want is a black algae outbreak or any algae period.

ive already had way to many problems suddenly appear in my 65 gallon in the last month after 2 years of keeping fish without a single problem(Columinaris killed off all but TWO of my fish, and a really bad nematode outbreak occured as well, hence why im getting rid of this tank- its turned into to much work/stress, no more fun)

having a algae battle would defet the perpose of getting rid of my 65, as im doing this to get away from all the problems.

So you think the coralife 50/50 20 watt is alright for growing plants in a 10 gallon.. i just dont want to buy it and then relize it isnt the right kind of light for plants as these bulbs look a bit strange...

even if the light is known for creating gross algae one of my two remaining fish is my BN pleco who keeps my 65 spotless so maybe he can keep the algae in check in his new temperary 10 gallon home(not sure if they eat black algae??)- i know 10 gallons is small and its going to be a shock for him going from a huge 65G to a small 10G but in march im getting a 30-40 gallon so he should be fine for 3 months.

i dont want to comment for sure, as i have read mixed reviews on the blue light and how it effects algae. There are so many conditions that make such a difference. Light on to long, not enough ferts etc..
I want to see what some of the other members have to say.
