I was wondering whether to get the 40W Current USA Satellite fixture or the 80W one.

I'm planning to use the nutrafin CO2 kit and was wondering if it would be enough if I had 80W of light, since I've heard people say that only pressurized could keep up with that kind of light.

Also, would 40W be able to grow riccia? I wanna be able to grow any type of plant and I would get the 80W fixture if I need to except for the concern with the CO2.

Friend..

For only 10 gallon you really dont need pressurized kit,

just keep checking your recip and us a good reactor.

also.. for riccia, get a good substrate.. and Make sure to use the N.P.K ferts..

i use seachem.. also you may try dry ferts..

For vigorous plant's growth you need 4 WPG of light's...

GOOD LUCK..

Kamel.

Why do you need good substrate to grow Riccia?

When it contain's a high level of Fe and K, also some other important metals and nutrient and humic acids..

well get an excellent growth.. not only reccia,, but for other plant's too.

Don't forget... Riccia is hard to keep and need to trim always...

Riccia is easy to keep IME, i've grown it atleast 10x the ammount I started off with in only a few months. That's with 7.0WPG... I really do hate it when people say riccia is hard to grow, unless it's just me who is lucky. As I can grow anything, I don't dose anything and I have no Co2, I can grow amazon swords, crypts, riccia in 0.7WPG.

Well. i don't think 7 WPG of light are enogh..

Whatever it's only lighting..

but maybe you've your substrate or your water are rich of nutrints... maybe..

sometimes add dechlor depends if I remember.

No offence, but are you serious? De-chlorinating your tap water is the most important thing you should do, or you could cause no end of hurt for your fish, and I'm sure that's the last thing you want to do.

That's cool, why is it important to dechlorinate our tap water before adding to the tank? To remove chlorine. Why? Because chlorine kills bacterial (that's the reason the water company add it in the first place) and this can be the beneficial bacteria in the filter running on the tank. What happens if those bacteria get damaged? You get ammonia and nitrite production while the filter readjusts, and those two, especially ammonia, kill fish. Its the same reason why we don't use straight tap water to clean the filter when carrying out maintenance.

Sam

I haven't used dechlorinator in any of my tanks for almost 3 months now and I check the stats twice a week. I haven't had a mini-cycle and I doubt I ever will. It's only important that you dechlorinate the water in small tanks (<40-gallons) as the bacteria colony in large tanks are so massive (depending on the bio-load of course) that chlorine never kills of enough bacteria to hurt anything. Also, as long as you have decent surface agitation the chlorine dissipates in about an hour.

So assuming proper substrate and ferts, will the 40W of light and nutrafin CO2 cover all the light and CO2 needs of any plants I might desire?
