hey all,
i currently have a 140 litre tank with 3x 17 watt fluorescent bulbs blue light, 10 000k and 50/50 i bought a new 300 litre that im setting up and was wondering wich lights are most essential ? i can get 40 watts but should i do go for all 3 bulbs or put in 3x 40 10 000 k to have 120 watt of lighting ?

the tank isnt deep its a 300litre long think about 50-70 cm deep

i only want to keep soft corals like mushrooms, i do have a few shrooms and they seem fine with the 3 diffrent 17 watss im running at the moment always nice and open even new one growing

thanks

what about your anemone? Is it going to be in the tank?

Shrooms dont need much light. Just to let you know shrooms arent soft corals, but rather a different species called Corallimorpharians

no the anemone is in my nano tank with 74 watt unit at the moment doing very well, just eating alot...

i know shrooms a diffrent but i have a few that i want to buy if i can, just dont have the money for metal halide

thought if i can put in 3 or 4 40 watt tubes into the hood that would be enough, even for 1 anemone later on

it should be perfectly fine for shrooms but i would never ever even consider a fully photosynthetic large anemone in that light. I would only have T5 or MH for anemones.....

the colour spectrum ? run 1 40 watt of the 3 diffrent spectrums ?

atnic
10 000k
50/50 ?

or 1 x40 watt atnic and 2 x 10 000k ?

would that be ok for soft corals ?

polyps
mushrooms
xenia

just go for whatever suits you colorwise. How about 6.500k, 10.000k and a fully actinic.
