Hi everyone,Im kinda new at this.Anyway, I'm wondering how much light my fish will need, and if i need to know anything about turning the lights off. I read in a book that really quickly turning a light on can kill a fish. Can you help me?

I have mine on about 3 hours a night (well about 4-5 hours now as I have a lot of real plants in the tank). The fish have natural daylight so I don't turn the lights on in the day. Too much light every day can encourage algae growth in the tank

Run mine from 3-11pm, 8hrs. Will depend on whether you have plants and what sort of bulbs you have really. Im not sure how you can control how quick a light comes on?

Best advice is to get a timer so you can run the lights at the same time everyday, for routine

Your fish will do fine with just the ambiant light from the room they are in so the amount of light you introduce is intirely up to you.
If you have live plants then they do need light.
Also light = Algea so dont have them on too long.
