What do you guys think of this setup AQUARIUM LIGHT 48" JEBO 260 POWER COMPACT W/ FANS LEGS

thanx

For softies and LPS, they work for sure. The coloration leaves a little to be desired, but they're OK lights. If you're on a budget and not a fan of DIY, go ahead and grab it. If you can spend a little more, pick something up from coralife or current

I will look at those two brand. The thing is I can pickup that set up for about 120$ with shipping.

What would be the main difference between the coralife/jebo/current

Thanx for the input

Coralife = Current > Jebo

Coralife and Current pretty much make identical fixtures. The thing that sets them apart from the Jebo units are 4-fold:

More efficient lamps and phosphors within the lamps
More efficient reflectors
Better ballasts
Better (not quite so noisy) cooling fans

All those factors lead to more light on corals and less annoyance for you the aquarist. Like I said, the Jebo ones do work, but you get what you pay for

Well I did win the auction for the Jebo, but my freaking paypal account got all screwed up.

Anyway I did do my research and people said you get what you pay for. The main complain waas that they were getting hot. The new model does include fans which the older model didn't have.

As soon as my paypal issue is resolved I will get the lights and at that point after using it a few weeks I will let you guys know.

Thanx for the info.

Alright my paypal account is now fix I did buy the lights. They should be here sometimes next week. :)

I got my lights...finally...I think they were in the Office but no one noticed. I had to do a couple mods

1. I bought a glass top for the fishtank and the glass was getting in the way of the Skimmer. I went to my buddy's house and he made me a piece that was about 1/4 inch shorter and that worked out great.

2. The feet of the light just didn't fit because of the glass top. So there are some little "pressure tighny" that you screw and are suppose to hold the fixture in place. I chopped those off and now the light sits nice and pretty. I wish it was a little higher cause when I feed I cannot completly lift the glass top but oh well.

On another note my Blue Hippo Tang freaked out with the new lights and bursted into white dots. He looks like a 15 yrs now. I have been feeding him well so I'm thinking he should be fine. He was swimming fine this morning and everything.

Well after using these lights for a while I am very pleased with the result. The only hicup I got was that the day light switch broke into the "on" position. It's doesn't really matter since the lights are on a timer.

The atinic light fan might be a little loud and causes the plastic to shake a little. I fixed the shaking by adding extra padding onto the legs.

Very pleased with my purchase :)
