I'm now setting up my juwel trigon 350 - 350l big corner tank.
It has 4 lighting tubes in 2 pairs. The back pair being shorter, are the t8 tubes (original ones I believe), one daylight and the other natural light. The front pair are longer and are the t5 tubes (an upgrade) both these are currently daylight tubes.
I fancy changing 1 tube to the blue to lift the colours of the fish - am I on the right track?
I think so many daylight tubes is very bright and may upset my silver dollars - of which I am very fond!
Because I have silver dollars, my plant life is mostly silk and plastic, with some java fern doing quite well and recently added moss balls which don't seem to be of interest to them. So although I like a planted tank look, from the plants point of view, it's do or die! So lighting for the plants isn't too relevant, I'd rather have happy fish who look great! So would natural tubes be better, or have a mix?
Also as I run my current single tube on a timer, I will do the same with the new tank. I could have 1 pair of lights coming on at "dawn" - or what I deem to be dawn! And the 2nd pair coming on for the afternoon, to give more intense light for several hours and going off earlier, leaving the 1st pair still on until bedtime? Am I getting too faffy here?
Your thoughts and advice welcomed!
