As i said somewhere else on here am going away for a while and gonna leave the tank running, at mo the only thing in there is a substrate (not live) and LR, but dont really want to leave lights on with timers as this will only cause evaporation, but will not light tank cause problems with the liverock?

If it's just LR then you won't have any problems - just like the rock at the bottom of the heap, never sees any light anyway. Coraline algae etc will just pick up again when lights go back on.
