I've recently battled with BGA and seem to have won. One thing I've done is cut back on my light from 12 hours per day at 2.33 WPG to 10 hours per day at 1.7 WPG with a "noon" burst in the middle at the 2.33 rate for 2 hours.

The question is, does it matter when I run the lights? Since I'm at work all day, it's nice to have the lights on while I'm home and able to enjoy the tank. Currently I have the lights come on at noon, turn off at ten, and have the secondary light come from 6 to 8 PM.

I assume the plants will adjust to this lighting schedule but is it screwing them up? There is indirect sunlight in the room so they go about 6 hours with ambient light before the lights come on.

I run my lights noon til 10 at the moment aswell.....sometimes earlier if my partner's not in to turn them on at noon as I work and can't do it unless it's my days off.
Then feed the fish a couple of hours before lights out each night so they have time to digest as i read somewhere its bad to feed them and then throw them into darkness.....dunno why though

You could run the lights in the middle of the night for all the plants would care :)

I also run from 1pm to 10pm, so that I get to see the tank when the lights are on, no point having a tank if you cant enjoy it!

Right, so we're all running our lights about the same time. That's what I thought but just figured I'd check.
