Hi all,

I was wondering if I could put a different bulb in my tank to bring the colours out more? I find it a little yellow looking at the moment.

My tanks is a Juwel RIO 125 with the normal lighting (1x day bulb and 1x nature bulb). Any ideas?

Also, on a side note.. i'm looking at getting black sand, but have a light coloured rock ornament, would this look ok? I'm also going to go for a black background to make things stand out.

Thanks a lot.

i found with 2x Day bulbs (both 9000k), gave a nice crisp look to the tank.

Yes, good choice.

My Arcadia pod uses a similar wavelength bulb, brings out the fish a treat.

I may pickup another day bulb tomorrow then if you're sure.

You can also get a blue bulb I believe or what they call a "colour" bulb for it. Which juwel states on their site is better for tropical?

Any thoughts on the black sand with light ornaments?

I've recently gone from black sand to normal sand, and notice the fish seem to have faded slightly.

But believe the darker the sand the brighter the fish look.

But it's up to you what sand you want in :) Hope this helps

Well,

I added the black sand and WOW, what an amazing difference. If i'd have known how much nicer black sand was over white, i'd have done that in the first place!

It looks no natural now. :)

I have dark sand and a light tank decoration and in my opinion it doesn't look good, the decoration looks old and faded - even though it isn't. I'm looking to get a different ornament.
The black sand does a great job bringing out my orange platy's colours. though not so much on my dalmatian mollies :p
