Setting up my 55 tonight. The ligths it came with are your typical flourescent looking bulbs that most fish tanks have. My vurrent tank However has an LED light system that does day and night. None of my local fish stores have a stand alone LED system. Would it be bad to just buy two sheets of plexiglass for the top of the tank then buy Like an auto maintnance LED light with a clamp and mount it to the inside of my wooden hood?

Well turns out my question may be moot. Went to gte my aquarium from the garage and my glass has a bunch of cloudy spots on it That I thaught were gone when I cleaned it about 4 days ago with an API aquarium cleaner. I figured the spots were some kind of build up when I baught it. I showed em to my wife she says that the glass lloks like the guy had tried to clean it with the wrong kind of cleaner and chemicly damaged the glass. I refilled it again to see If they will effect the ability to see into the aquarium or not. But my water outside is Ice cold so I hafto wait for the condensation I cant wipe away compleately to dissipate in order to tell...

Hi, slightly off topic but what kind of LED lightning system do you have. I am trying to get on set up on my new 3 footer and have seen the LED strips on ebay. Is this what you have?

The one I have came with my aquarium when I baught it. There are 48 leds (3 blue for night) and they are on a disk about the sise of a childs foot ball that sist in my lid. The tank is very well lit. From what I hear they may be a bad idea if ya do live plants though.
