Hi, i recived my lights yesterday, but unfortunately the guy who i bought them off sent me two 14w white tubes, and one 14w blue tube...
Would the actnic bulb be any good or should i just not use it?
If i didnt use it there would only be 28w on a 17g tank, but with it on, would it make any differance?

Thanks, Mikey

If there's one white and one blue it sounds like you've bought a light meant for marine tanks, which means the white tube wont be of much use either - the temperature for marine tubes are usually 10,000k or above.
Check the white tube, see what info you can find on it. You want a temp of around 6000k. The blue tube i wouldnt use at all, unless you want to use it as a night light. Blue helps algae growth.

Yes, they are designed for marine use, but theres two white and one blue, but the guy is going to send me another white so they will all be white (42w alltogether)
Im pretty sure that they are 10,000k, but i thought that would be ok?
What will happen if i use these bulbs, even if they arent 6,000k???

Thanks alot
