Hello,

Had my tank up and running a few months now and have been blown away with the fantastic planted tanks you have(I need one). So I would like to ask a few questions that Ive noticed with my tank.

Tank Juewl 260 vision
Think they are Multilux lighting system 38w tubes x 2

1. Just noticed that one light tube is bright white and the other looks a little orange surley after a few months its not on its way out ?

2. Having read some of the forum My lighting system is well below 2wpg?

3. I have a carbon sponge along with others in my filter system, I have been using liquid fertalizer for some of my plants is this a waste of time ? if so how do I use my filter?

4. I have heard about the reflectors to increase the heat are they worth getting? if not how do you upgrade yuor lighting system to fit the hood with your original tank?

Thank you.

there is really not a way of adding wattage to your current hood. just need to looking into getting external lighting. If you still need a hood for under the lights look into a versa top all glass hood. They dont cost much and work great. As for the lights, get ready for at least $100 to come out of the pocket.

well well a foray into the planted side have you..well you could do like me and keep the original hood buy an all glass cover and add another fixture so you have two lights sitting on top..you can get a double strip flourescent fixture from big als for bout 40us dollars..as far as raising temp the reflectors i think are more for light reflection than anything to do with heat..take out the carbon from your filter and use sponge material..you may have a bulb that needs replacement if its changing color already..are both bulbs the same?..most light strips come in the sizes needed to fit the tank..what size is the tank in length?

i just added another double strip freshwater aqualight..mahe sure its the right k rating about 6700-6500k

i originally had 85watts with the original and my other aqualight 65watts but decided to replace the original with another double strip at 36 watts total bringing my lighting to 101watts..

That's not right actually.

You can add more neon tubes under the hood no problem. All you have to do is....

Go to B&Q or equivalent DIY store. Buy a piece of wood 2 inches wide by 1/4 inch deep by 120cm long (I used the decorative dedo rails with embossed cats and dogs on it for about £3).

Cut the wood, so that is is exactly the right length to fit on the lighting runners in the tank hood.

Buy a new lighting controller and tube and buy an Arcadia reflector.

The Arcadia reflector has the neon tube clips and nuts/screws to attach the clips to the wooden strip included. Simply find longer nuts of the same thread / diameter from your DIY store and bolt the neon tube clips to the wooden strip.

If you want photos, I can put some up.

to answer the other questions....

1. Just noticed that one light tube is bright white and the other looks a little orange surley after a few months its not on its way out ?

This is because the Juwel is supplied with two different tubes. Nothing to worry about. However the tubes are not great for plant growth and should be upgraded to plant growth tubes with reflectors.

2. Having read some of the forum My lighting system is well below 2wpg?

Yes. See how to add more lighting above.

3. I have a carbon sponge along with others in my filter system, I have been using liquid fertalizer for some of my plants is this a waste of time ? if so how do I use my filter?

The carbon will remove the ferts, so take it out and replace it with a standard sponge.

4. I have heard about the reflectors to increase the heat are they worth getting? if not how do you upgrade yuor lighting system to fit the hood with your original tank?

Yes, they are pretty much essential.

I would most appreciate if you could upload some pics that would be a great help to me Thank you.

How do you mean the tubes are two different types The same wattage I guess but different makes?

The carbon will remove the ferts, so take it out and replace it with a standard sponge

Is this the blue standard sponge? Will this not cause any Issues with the setup?

Where do i get the reflectors do I have to use Juewl and if so do I get them direct from Juewl

Thanks again for your help.

some light kits come with two different bulbs..one for say plant growth and one with a different light spectrum..a lot of times you can go to the lfs and see filter material for alot of makes in one.. you just cut it to fit..shouldnt be a ploblem as long as your water still flows thru the material good.
