Well, i was looking at my tank earlier thinking the lighting was a bit dim and yellow.

So i think im going to upgrade.

If i just need a lighting tube then can you recommend me one thats T8 and 18" long.

If i need a whole new lighting unit, then im clueless and would need some help.

Im currently using the standard one which is 15w and im at 1wpg. I use TPN+ and easycarbo. Would prefer not to use co2.

Thanks

t5s don't come in 18inches to my knowledge.
Also, if the supplied lighting is a t8 tube then you wouldn't be able to fit a t5 bulb anyway because they are different diameters. Plus t5s are powered by electronic ballasts instead of magnetic ballasts.
I would just replace the bulb.
Check out these.
With 2 tubes you are going to need some sort of Carbon addition.

The first tube would be ok. I wouldn't choose it because it's more bluey (10000Kelvin). The ones in the link I posted are better suited really.

Yeah, the Wave is also an alternative, but costs loads more, plus you have to take the lid off, meaning more evaporating and fish might jump out.
