Are there any plants out there that don`t need a aquarium light? I don`t have a light on the tank. The room the tank is in has 2 walls that are nearly fully windowed. This room does get a lot of light during the day.
This is my sons tank and has little gravel rocks (all colours). I would like to change this as well as get some real plants. Such a java moss and java fern. Hopefully his guppies will have fry and they`d have something to hide in.
What do people recommend for the bottom of the tank (besides these coloured rocks, ugly imo)???
Also I would like to also setup a new tank for Endlers only.
So any ideas or comments on if there are plants that don`t need a light on the tank and also what else could be used instead of coloured rocks for the bottom of the tank and is also good for the plants.

Any input and ideas welcome. Also what to look out for, eg: what not to get.

Cheers, Min.

edit: forgot to mention im not using C02.

I prefer to use playsand or fine black gravel for substrate.

Java moss may survive, but most plants benefit a lot from direct lighting.
