My tank is pretty bare at the moment, it is a juwel rekord 96ltr, it has a few large pieces of bogwood with java moss growing on those as well as a few amazon swords.

I only have one leopard frog plec living in there at the moment, and i'm thinking of buying some german blue rams, therefore im going to need alot more tropical plants.
I'd like to increase the lighting in the tank to help the plants grow, the lighting i have at the moment came with the tank itself.

I know i'll need 1x 24" tube, but i'm not sure what wattage, colour etc? This is all very new to me, what would you recommend? and what online suppliers are best?

I dont use any sort of Co2 system at the moment, i buy relatively hardy tropical plants and use plant feeder and plenty lighting... i'm desperately in need of good advice...

T8 24" light tubes only come in 18w. T5's are much higher wattage, but thats a whole different ball game.

Most LFS will sell tubes designed for plants, just ask.

Have you read the pinned threads, there is one on lighting there.

Thanks for the advice, i'll have a look at them when i have a little more time on my hands.

I was just worried about buying the wrong one :/

No probs, to be honest thou, a single tube isn't really going to be enough for your plants even if it's a plnat tube. You may need to invest in a second or even third tube. But give it a go and see what happens.
