I will be getting a 90gal tank that only has 40 watts of light on it, and since I have a planted tank, I need like 5 times that.

I want to know if i can use the regular screw in house light bulbs instead of the flourescent tubes and still get the same results. You can get them at 50w and 100w, so I could space them out.

thanks

Ordinary GLS incandescent lamps can be used, but you need to use a lot more power to get the same light output from them, and they run very hot which can cause problems. Halogen lamps have the same heat problems.
