In the process of rounding up my supplies/equipment for a 55 gallon. My intentions are for a moderately planted with multiple livebearers. The aquarium came with two hoods for the top of the tank, however, I am absolutely clueless as to what size/type bulbs I need. There are so many! Why do they have to make it so complicated lol.

I'll be going with (omg how do u kill this?) type of plants lol! So I'm guessing their lighting shouldn't be of high concern- but will be for the livebearers.

Any suggestions? Links w/ good juicy info?

Thanks.

The sort of plants your after will grow in low light conditions, so 2 * 38watt tubes (4').

If your going planted your going to need a fairly fine substrate ie silver sand or a fine quarts gravel, something alongthat lines, so the plants can root easly.

vallis, hygrophilia polsperma, java ferns, java moss, Anubias barteri var. nana, cambodia, are all plants to look at there undemanding and hard to kill.

If you post a pic of your hood some one will be able toadvise you better.

good luck :)
