:p hi all am interested in gettin a timer to put my light on. does anyone know of a sight online i can buy one? also is it easy to do? dont wanna mess up and play around with electricals cheers all

you can order them from just about any home improvement store online (or pet stores but they will cost more)....all it does is plug into an existing outlet so you do not have to modify anything...there are digital ones out there now too and some even have multiple outlets to plug more than one device into

yep..they are very common and easy to use.

Here is a link: Homebase

I bought one of the digital type ones from Asda for about £7 I think. IMO the digital ones are much better and worth the extra couple of quid.

Though I've never used a digital one, they probably are best - the the manual ones are very easy to operate.

The only thing I've found with "some" of the manual ones, is that they can be a little noisy and you can hear it ticking away.....

One problem I found with the digital timers was that they would just reset themselves within 5 days (usually less than 36 hours) after starting them up. I can only assume it is something ot do with the flourescant ballast. Anyway, I now go for manual every time and have no problems at all.

we've got 5 digitals now and 2 mechanicals - the digitals are loads better.

we got 3 from woolworths for £7 each
and a 2 pack from argos.
They are all 24 hour 7 day timers - with 8 on and off settings loads of variability (we have different pattens at the weekend as we are about)

The mechanicals are only used for the moon lights as they are not as versitile and as mentioned are noisey - they are also not too good at keeping the correct time - they are usually 10 mins out in a week.
