:( hi all, am mintersted on putting my light on a timer. how do i go about this is it easy to set up? wanna buy one on-line so if anyone knows of a decent website? :hey:

You can get them at any hardware store. You just plug your light into the timer and then set it to when you want the lights to go on and off. Simple. :)

I have four of them. They're cheap and easy. Of course there are dozens of varieties with all kinds of switches and settings, a cheap one is all you need. It plugs into the outlet and the light plugged into it. It acts as a killswitch for the light.

They run from very simple (one on and one off per day) to very complex (you can have numerous ons and offs each day and they can be different every day). I would suggest one with at least 2 on and off settings per day. Most people seem to find that it works better to have a break in their lights on time during the day to help prevent algae. As was already mentioned, they are readily available at most hardware and home improvement places. With the cheaper ones running about $8 to $10 here in the states, you would probably be better off buying one at the store rather than ordering on line. Shipping will end up costing you as much as the timer.

Mine were only $4 US at Walmart. These are the type you can set every half hour to be on or off too.

If you're in the UK (which I assume from your name you are), Ikea do a pack of two for £3. Bargain. They have a 24 hr dial with 15 minute on/off increments to cater for the fussiest of lighting scenarios.

Couldn't be easier to set up. Set the clock dial to what the time is, select when you want it on and off, plug it in, plug the light into it.

Argos are doing buy 2 get another 1 free ;) Think it's about £10 :D

or Ikea as has already been mentioned :)
