light confusion!!

right I'ved bought one of these lights that was advertised on ebay to have 2 40W T5 lamps. it does have T5 lamps but just standard ones and 28W tubes.

I'm not happy with this so i was thinking of getitng them to replace with one of the -

only thing is i'm not sure what type tubes these are?? and do arcadia make tubes for them?

what do you mean by standard T5's paul?

the thin diameter ones rather than the T5 power compacts?

This first link uses the single tube T5s, the other uses the powe compact.

I'm currently pricing up 2x55w and 2x36w Power compacts to go in the hood of our 4ft for the marine conversion.

yeh, T5 being standard output rather than T5 high output.

so they have shipped you a low output version with 2x28W tubes rather than the advertised 2x40W - not good

yep thats the one, not too happy at all!!

any ideas on the 2nd link ones? if you look at the picture below for the next size up it looks like the bulbs are joined near the end like deak lamp bulbs.

yep thats the type wer' looking at - i could just get 4 55W's in the hood with a 0.5" over lap in the centre or i could stagger a 55w and 36w front and back - allowing me to start the 36w's seperatly to the 55w's and bring the lights on over a couple of hours

They are indeed joined at the ends

We'll be going with the interpet 'day' bulbs with 50% Daylight & Actinic

excellent, so if i get the to replace for the 2nd one they are proper/high output T5's....

My plans to use it width ways on my 4ft until i can buy something else then when i can I;ll just get an arcadia T8 overtank thingy and the 2ft one can then be used on my nano marine to pump some serious watts into it

they seem really sorry about it and have changed the auction now, and i'm going to get it swapped for the 2ft 55W HO T5's.!!

got the new light through today and it's basically a copy of the arcadia ones with the hinging mounts.

except it has 2x 55w power compacts in!

just wondering if there's anyone else that makes power compact tubes apart from Interpet?

I'm going to replace one of the tubes for now so its a tad better for FW until i change it.

there both 12k lamps atm.
