atb bae

In theory, a plant exists pretty much for every environment..

So, some more information about what you want? What size is the tank? Which plants are you interested in? Will you be adding anything extra such as CO[sub]2[/sub] or fertilisers?

It is a 4ft tank. The only plants I will be addin is amazon swords and vallis and I will be adding flourish plant food

Those have both done well under low light for me without fertilisers, so they should work for you even better. You will probably be wanting to be careful to not overdose on the fertiliser.. (someone who actually uses them will be able to help better).

def worth working out your watts per gallon (40W divided by tank volume in USgallons) to see which species will be the most compatible :)

If you want the easy life and no hassle then stick with the 40W.
You wont have to prune as much
You wont have to perform as many water changes
You dont need to add CO2
If the tank is well stocked then you I doubt you would need ferts

I'd still put a reflector on the bulb though.
