Does anyone have any idea what the lifespan of a heater is? The reason I am asking is I have had two heaters die on me in the last 10 days. Both different brands, both from different tanks.

Has anyone else had to replace their heater after only 18 months or so of use?

Just curious.

Normally it's when I forget to let them cool down before taking them out!!!

I don't think there are any particular life expectancies for heaters. I do know you're going to get more miles for your money if you get a heater that has a larger wattage than your tanks needs - that way it isn't straining to maintain a steady temperature.

It's either one of those things or they were being strained. 18 months isn't long I have to say.

Hope that helps

Erm no, because they crack

The heater on my 75gal went today but the light was still on. I knew it wasn't heating when I went to move some rocks around and it felt cold. Felt the heater and it was cold too (with the light on).....turned the heater right up....to no avail. Bought a new one, put it in, heating straight away.....

Weird
