lifespan of a swordtail?

I want to ask how long swordtails should live? In the last week, I have lost my first pair of swordtails. The only thing I can put it down to is old age. They were fully grown when we got them and she was already pregnant and I don't think it was her first batch of babies... looked in all my literature on fish and I can't see how long they should live.

I've heard 3-5 years. But I don't know for sure.

Livebearers in general live 2-5 yrs. I have a male guppy thats over 2yrs old.
