Lfs Taking Back Fish - How Common?

I guess if the shop has an assigned quarantine tank(s) then its fine, but if they agree to take your fish back and just plop it in one of their tanks, I wouldn't think they are very responsible. They have no clue if your fish is diseased and the kind of tank it came from. This is the reason the shop I work at won't take back fish, we don't have any spare tanks, and we won't risk contaminating our fish. So I don't think stores that won't take back fish should be labeled as "bad", thats just stupid.

none of my lfs take back the fish, unless it's for free. and even then, they might not.

the lfs i usually buy from has a 24 hour guarantee on fish. after that, you're on your own. :)

All my LFS that i visit take my fish back, never had to do it but i know they would all do it for me. I find the privately run ones do it most. My places wont give u cash or store credit, but next time u shop u get a discount on watever u buy. Just my 2cents

Most of the lfs's here will take them back- one won't though. As soon as it's out of the store they want nothing to do with it other than a guarantee. They're worried about "parasites and disease", even if you say you treat them and the bunch. Plus. they have a large amount of ich infested dying fish anyways so I don't really get them stingy people....

I talked to them about it once... they basically flat out said avsolutely no.

Well it looks like there a 3 nice welsh people who are going to rehome my fish. So i wont have to go back to my LFS.

Next time i think i'll ask before i buy, just to check the shops policy.
