LFS in IL ?

I was just at Aquatic World (3024 N. Lincoln Ave). Again, I was dissappointed. About 4 of the FW tanks had ich. Just like when I was there a month ago.

I saw some nice Apisto Borelli for $11.99 each. Written on the tank was "No health garrantee". WTF is that?

I've seen that on Piranha tanks before, but not on tanks with a few Apistos, cardinal tetras, and Threadfin Rainbows. They only give you 3 day garrantee anyway. The last time I bought fish there, I bought a pair of albino kribs. They never ate, and died on the fourth day. I then bought 1 female from Old town and 1 male from Chicago Aquarium and Pond. They are doing great and are raising their first batch of fry (in the same tank that the albinos were in).

I guess I'm trying to say be careful if you go there.

EDIT: I did buy an ADF for $2.99, but they were in an Eclipse 3g on the counter.

If your in chicago Chicago Aquarium at 5028 N. Clark is good. Theyre kind of expensive but if your getting actual fish they're great.

goto i think its ither Naperville or Yorkville around the Fox Valley mall. Theres a petco and a petsmart and some other store i think its caled Little Amazon.  You need to be specific on yor town name

Cause I was there on friday FISHING...I caught a catfish...

But don't eat anything ou catch from there! The Fox River is in the top 10 mostp poluted river in America

Also I went to check Animal Kingdom they had a cockatoo in a small cage for a Canary...

I live in IL but I go to the mom n pop shops in Missouri for my fish if I'm not ordering them via aquabid. I go to Festus,MO and go to Pet Stock. They have like soooooooo many tanks I can't even remember how many and their prices are pretty good. Going there makes my day when I do. I ALWAYS walk out with something.

Are they any Good all around LFS in Illinois. THe one i go to Scotts's pet shop which isn't that great an they over charge you when i know i can go to somone other place for it cheaper and the fish selection is bigger and healthier fish. i am not sure if we really have many fish places here do we

NO-BODY HAS A BETTER SELECTION OF FRESH AND SALTWATER FISH FOR HIS PRICES...I GO INTO THE CITY AND UP TO PARK RIDGE AND GET IN RIGHT IN THE CAN!! GARBAGE FISH AND HIGH PRICES..SCOTT CAN LITERALLY AND I MEAN THIS SERIOUSLY..GET YOU ANYTHING YOU WANT WHILE OTHERS DON'T HAVE HIS CONNECTIONS. YOU MUST HAVE BEEN CAUGHT STEALING OR SOMETHING AND BE OUT TO GET BACK AT SOMEBODY,,,BECAUSE THE SCOTTS YOU DESCRIBED DOESN'T EXIST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you are willing to go to peoria illinois, there is a wonderful petshop called superpets on west lake avenue. They have a entire wall dedicated to saltwater, a wall and a half dedicated to freshwater( plus a 600 gallon display tank), a HUGE dog room, a Huge bird room, a good sized reptile room, a small animal area( monstersized), 7 back to back rows of fish merchandice( very very cheap), i rarely ever find dead fish there, adn if i do, it is feeders( what do you expect), Here are some fresh water fish i know they sell:

blue rams
german rams
flower horns
jewel cichlids

Old orchard aquarium, its in Skokie, near Old Orchard Shopping Mall. Thee fish bowl is in evanston, and Wilmete pet which is in wilmete. All three are great stores.

BEEN THERE..AND COMPARED TO A PETCO..ITS FANTASTIC..BUT SCOTTS PUTS THIS PLACE TO SHAME. THE SIZE OF A JEWEL FOOD STORE FULL OF FISH, THAT EVEN THE CHICAGO SHED'S AQUARIUM MAINTAINERS COME TO FOR ADVICE.

AT THE TIME I WAS ONLY INTO MY REEF TANKS, NOT SO MUCH THE EXTENSIVE COLLECTION OF STING RAYS AND CLOWNS..ECT..ECT..ALL OF WHICH I GET FROM SCOTTS. THE QUESTIONAIRE PART OF THE HIRING PROCESS, IS A VERY GOOD IDEA THOUGH..FOR THE AMOUNT OF MONEY A PERSON CAN SPEND ON OUR HOBBY, YOU NEED SOMEBODY WHO WILL BE AS HONEST AS POSSIBLE. ITS FUNNY, ONE OF THE FIRST TIMES I VISITED SCOTTS, ONE OF HIS SALTWATER GALS (SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOT) WAS TALKING THIS GUY OUT OF BUYING THIS PARTICULAR FISH BECAUSE IT WAS FAR TO AGRESSIVE FOR WHAT HE ALREADY HAD IN HIS TANK!! I MEAN TO LOSE A 300 DOLLAR FISH SALE BECAUSE, SHE KNEW IT WASN'T GOING TO WORK OUT IN THE END IS HONEST..TURNS OUT SHE IS A SOME KINDA FISH TOUR GUIDE AT THE SHED AQUARIUM IN CHICAGO.

With all this talk of "great places" to go for FISH...None of them can hold a candle to SCOTTS PET SHOP. I vist Scotts' place 4 times a week, 361 days a year for the past 7 years.....there ISNT a single store, dealer or collector here in Illinois or anywhere in the USA that can match his selection let alone prices.
I haven't any Idea how he gets what he gets, but the man LIVES at the customs pick up areas of Ohare and Midway..constantly picking up Live corals and fish that NOBODY can top! All of his long time employees came from these "other" stores mentioned as the "best".... If you spend 10 dollars or 5,000 dollars you are treated equal.

There is always a chance of seeing and meeting local celeb's as well!! Ranging from newscasters to Professional radio and sports players..Scotts is like a superstar hangout!! LOL..They go to him because the big time collectors know its a waste of time to go anywhere else.
