Level Surfaces

Hi everyone, just go my first tank. Have set it up on a good surface which is very stable, but having put 2 inches of water in I notice that the stand is very slightly sloping forward (the water is slightly deeper at the front of the tank than the back as a result). I guess that I should have used a level, but I though that the stand was flat and level.

I am rather worried about the effect this will have on a 98 litre tank full of water... Is this tolerable for the tank or should I empty the tank, and the plants and the gravel.... I would love not to have to do the latter... Thanks!

A very small difference wont hurt, but if its more than say an inch, the you would need to level the tank, you can get things to do this, but the name of them escapes me right now.

Shims.

Yeah, I've run into the same issue. When I set my tank up I was concerned about front to back slope because I knew the floor wasn't level in that direction. Like a bonehead I forgot the check if it was level in the other direction. One of these days I need to buy some shims, drain 50 or 60% of the water and shim the one end of the tank up to level things out.

I would be very careful if it is sloping to one side as the slightest knock could send in tumbling down...

thanks everyone, I empotied half the water and adjusted the legs of the table, there is still a very slight slope but it is perhap half a centimetre and seems fine - barely noticeable. Tank is full, tap water treatment is in and it is filtering away. I shall be counting down to doing the amonia / nitrate cycle check thing and then going fish shopping in a few weeks! :hyper:
