Sorry if this is innapropriate. I've been reading thro' gathering info - there's a lot of knowledgeable people in this forum.

I've noticed in several threads that people have had trouble getting Levamisole. I used it to treat my platies and guppies for Camallanus worms. It was a bit of hassle but I got Levacide cattle drench through a local veterinary pharmacist. Had to buy gallons of the stuff (well 1 litre anyway). There are a number of proprietary brands of wormer containing levamisole and it seems to be quite stable, so even if there is a problem with levamisole production - there's probably stocks of wormer still around.

I put it in the water and it worked a treat, even though the ph was slightly over 7. Had to do a virtual 100% water change though - so very stressful for the fish.

I read through all these articles and several of them recommended a 100% water change to get rid of any traces of worm larvae (worms are apparently very infectious) and it gets rid of the chemical

Have just read about your discussions with the vet. That's why my pharmacist didn't want to provide the levacide - because it's not licensed for fish. Not sure about treatment in a separate tank, though. If you haven't killed all the worms in the tank the fish will just get re-infected.

Best of luck!

I agree that the main tank would need to be treated and the fish in it, so moving the delicate shrimps out you would have to do but you couldnt introduce them back in in case they carried them back.

I think anyone needing some more info should speak to mikev who's been using this in his tanks / fish - and I'm sure would be able to give some more advise/direction.
