Lettauce

Well I wen't out and purchased lettauce and I have a mystery snail 2 apple snails and ramshorns and my platies and mollies and guppies...I was wondering if they will eat it and how to prepare the lettauce for them and I don't have a plant weight but I think i'll be ok. Thank you guys for your help

boil it for 10-20 seconds and plop it in...weight down with a piece of gravel, the edge of an ornament or anything...they should find it within the first hour or so....i believe iceburg lettuce is the least nutritous but they like it just fine...romaine is a better choice (i think)

I dunno what kind of lettauce I have but any will work?...Ill try my lettauce right now thanks for your reply I have preimum lettauce is this ok or should I get a different kind?

I would see how they do without boiling it first - boiling loses nutrients and makes it break up in the tank faster, and they'll usually nibble on it fresh, especially the snails.

hmm...and all the people that may have touched and contaminated the lettuce in the store? if you have ever done so, you would know that boiling lettuce for 10 seconds does very little to the structural integrity of the lettuce, but it does kill off most of the "bad" things that could be on it....a tradeoff well worth it IMO...not to mention i have kept large pieces of lettuce in my tanks for up to 2 days without any ill effects

There's nothing that would be on the lettuce that can't be rinsed off - That's getting a little paranoid.

I dont boil the lettuce for my fish and i go through two heads a week, as Freddy says just give it a quick rinse and chuck it in. I found that when i blanched it it became too soft and lots of little bits of it woul end up blocking the filters.
