Hello everybody! New member here with just a quick question.

I have a 55 gallon tank that has recently finished cycling. I haven't even scratched the surface on stocking it, the current stocking is as follows:

4 female swordtails
1 male swordtail
3 newborn swordtails in a breeder box (only about 2wks old)
1 juvenile male albino BN pleco. (maybe 3 inches MAX)

The water quality (if i do say so myself) is prefect. Temp 78 Ph. 7.6, ammonia 0, nitrites 0 and nitrates 10. I use an api master Kit, so i know the readings are accurate.

The swords are the fish that i cycled with, through the whole cycle i only lost 1 [started with 5 females]. The BN was to celebrate the end of cycling :D.

Anyways, now that you have the tank info, on to the problem. My male swordtail the last few days has been very lethargic, he'll swim around occasionally, and eats well. But most of his time is spent hovering at the top of the tank. He doesn't move, just sits there. He isn't gilling, or showing signs of disease. The only thing amiss i notice is he never raises his dorsal fin. In fact, he just looks...well... Droopy would be the best way to put it.

Is this a sign of a specific disease? Is it just his manner? I did let my nitrites get rather high while cycling, could he be unable to absorb oxygen due to nitrite poisoning? Any ideas on what could be wrong and what i could do would be appreciated.

Sorry for the long first post, just trying to be thorough with information.
